Balance Bar
Energy on the Run

© Outdoor Adventure Canada

The team at OAC will often go on a multi-day backpack trip together. Sometimes the days are long so rather than stop for lunch we will grab something quick. Often times the snack is in the form of a nutrition/energy bar. Not to long ago we decided to try Balance Bar and Balance Bar Gold from Kraft.

The consensus was that these bars were very good. Balance bars come in a wide variety of flavours but the favourite was Chocolate Raspberry Fudge. In the Balance Bar Gold series, the favourite was Chocolate Peanut Butter. The Gold series bars tend to be a little drier than the regular Balance Bars so you'll want to make sure you drink some water.

There are so many bars and supplements on the market but be sure to give these bars a second look. They are a good source of energy and provide some of the vitamins you might be missing with a backpacker's diet.
