Great gear for your camp kitchen

Outdoor Adventure Canada
I first discovered
GSI Outdoors when I set about writing a wilderness cooking course
last year. I soon found out that GSI Outdoors makes all sorts
of wonderful gear for your wilderness kitchen.
The first
piece of GSI Outdoors' gear that I tested was a peppermill for
my outdoor kitchen. I have two of these grinders now, one for
coarse salt and the other for pepper of course. They go on every
wilderness trip with me. If you want to enhance your outdoor cooking
there is nothing better than fresh ground pepper.
GSI Outdoors'
Ceramic Grill GLS fits over a two-burner Coleman type camp stove.
The ceramic mesh gives you even heat and the grid is big enough
for two or three juicy steaks. We also tested this over a campfire
and it worked well but I still prefer the GSI Backpacker Grid
when cooking over a fire on wilderness trips. This is the perfect
grill for car camping. I really liked that food did not fall through
the cooking grid and I appreciated that it came with a carry case.
The Camp Gourmet
Super Deluxe 27 piece Kitchen set is also a great add-on to your
car camping gear. It houses a wide range of cutlery for four,
a whisk, salt and pepper shaker, a cutting board, a grater and
cooking utensils. It also included a scrubber/sponge combo and
towel for doing dishes and a variety of containers. The removable
sections made removing the utensils easier and the daisy chain
loops kept everything secure. At 1.7 pounds, I would slate this
product as ideal for car camping and canoeing. GSI Outdoors has
lighter gear for the backpacking crowd.
GSI's 33 oz Java Press is one of my favorite pieces of gear. I
use a Bodum for coffee and loose teas at home and the GSI Lexan
model is a terrific addition to my backpacking gear. I love that
it is unbreakable and that it comes with a neoprene wrap to keep
your beverage warm. To save bulk I put my zipper bag of coffee
grinds inside the unit. This is a must-have for the wilderness
enthusiast who loves coffee.
I love their Lexan wine glasses too. It is terrific to be sitting
on a vista enjoying a beautiful sunset with a glass of your favorite
Merlot. The thing I like most about these wine glasses is that
you do not have that plastic taste. I also appreciated the durability.
I put these through the rigors and they stood up to everything
I dished out.
In closing,
I would highly recommend gear from GSI Outdoors. The attention
to detail, the durability and unique ideas makes GSI Outdoors
get two thumbs up in my books.
