Thats Falls Creek Falls in the background. The Sipsey Wilderness in west Alabama. You cant tell by the picture but its actually alot larger than the single serving Spam.

And yes, I bite my nails like a beaver.

Spam is not too bad if used in a recipe. This one is pretty good.

Spam Chimichangas
Submitted By: Shelley
Serves: 2
Cooking Time: 15 min.
Equipment Required: foil and frying pan or hot coals
Ingredients: 2-30z.foil spam packages
1/3 cup salsa sauce (dehydrated)
3 Tablespoons chopped onion (dehydrated)
2 large flour tortillas
1/2 cup shredded chedder cheese

Cooking Instructions: Re hydrate onions and salsa sauce. Combine spam, onions, and salsa sauce. Spoon 1/2 mixture down center of tortilla; add 1/4 cup chedder cheese. Fold two sides over filling: fold ends down. Repeat steps for second tortilla. Wrap in foil and place either above hot coals or in frying pan until golden in colour and cheese is melted.

Vegetarian Recipe: No
Dehydrated Meal: No
Preparation Difficulty: simple
Comments: All ingredients can be mixed in a large ziplock bag and cooking is done in foil so there is no clean up.

I have not tried this recipe yet, but I did convert it from the Spam web site into a camping version of the recipe.

Spam turkey fingers camp version
2 pkg oven roasted turkey spam
1 pkg pizza dough (make according to directions)
1 pkg mild chili seasoning
4 1 ounce cheese slices cut into strips
bamboo skewers
ketchup or mustard for dipping
Soak skewers 10 minutes
Remove spam from foil and cut into logs. Insert skewers into each log
Dip logs into chili mix seasoning place coated logs onto dough along with two strips of cheese. Roll up and bake until golden brown in outback oven or over coals wrapped in foil

Spam the Wonder Meat!!!!!!!!! Or the "Wonder If Its Meat"!

I love the stuff...the classic spam needs to be cooked....fried or barbequed is best...the turkey spam is lower in salt and is great to eat cold right out of the pack!

I've tried it and I don't love it. Bleh. It's partially a texture thing for me. Although I did lose a bet and am committed to eating a serving of whatever Spam concoction Shelley makes me try.

Now I forgot about that one. I think I am in need of a few drinks, and a Python nite some time soon, to refresh my memory.
