Cheddar Broccoli Tart
Based on 6 ratings | Read Review
15 minutes prep time
45 minutes cook time
Serves 8

Ingredients
1 9-inch/22.5 cm frozen deep-dish pie crust 1
375 mL milk 1 1/2 cups
4 eggs 4
2 mL dried basil 1/2 tsp
1 pkg Knorr Cream of Leek Soup 1 pkg
1 package (10 oz/300 g) frozen broccoli, thawed and drained well 1
375 mL grated Cheddar or Swiss cheese 1 1/2 cups
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375° F (190° C). Place the frozen pie crust on a baking sheet. In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, basil and soup mix. Stir in the broccoli and cheese. Pour mixture into the pie crust and bake 40 to 45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the centre comes out clean. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

This is my camping conversion of it

Camping Cheddar Broccoli Tart
No roll pie shell
Mix into ziplock at home
1 ˝ cups flour
˝ tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
1tsp instant powder milk
In leak proof container 1/3 cup oil
In camp mix al ingredients together along with 4-6 Tablespoons of water and press into 10”fry pan
Filling
At home mix into a ziplock
2/3 powdered milk
8 Tablespoons powdered egg mixture ( the kind for eating not the whole egg mixture for baking with)
˝ teaspoon dried basil

In another zip lock 1 pkg frozen broccoli that has been dehydrated
1 pkg Knorr cream of Leek soup
Also take a block of cheddar cheese = 1 ˝ cups grated
In camp make pie crust and press into 10” frypan
Add water to broccoli to rehydrate
Mix filling ingredients along with Leek soup mix to 2 cups of water and whisk well with fork. To this add rehydrated broccoli and grated cheese. Mix well and pour into pie shell.
Bake using outback oven or can use reflector oven just use appropriate pan for your oven.
Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the centre comes out clean. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Baking times may differ

I have not tested this yet, when I do I will post results

To this you could add other dried veggies or real bacon bits the shelf stable kind

When preparing the broccoli, be sure to take off nearly all of the stem... cut right below the leaves. the stem part of broccoli doesn't re-hydrate well.

Thanks Nikon I had not thought of that, I had dried broccoli before and only used the tops because that is the part I like

If you use a coarse grate on the broccoli stems (like you would carrots if putting them in slaw) they will dry and rehydrate nicely.
