Sharing your adventures online

This installment
of Boredom Beaters is an activity that can is started on your
trips and finished at home - the trip log. I really enjoying reading
the trip logs of my friends and I have had great fun in creating
my own.
First of all
you will need to make notes while on your trip unless you have
a very good memory. I take a little journal and a pencil and at
the end of the day I write a little. I sometimes make notes about
the photos I took that day and I record information about weather.
I also write down anything unusual or interesting about the route.
When I return
home I like to make this trip log into a little webpage. Don't
worry if you aren't a web designer. There are many places on the
internet where you could do this such as blogspot.com.
Of course if you want to take the time you can create your own
web based trip log using web site design software.
Here are a
few examples of some of the trip logs our team has enjoyed reading.
Mark
in the Park - Mark Rubino's Algonquin Park canoe trip logs
Chris
Lawson - Chris' personal website
pinciuc.com
- Rob uses Google Maps to show where he traveled
Darren's
Outdoor Pages - some great canoe trip logs here
Algonquin
Park Weblog - a good example of a blog
Canoe
Trips - Dave Harmen's Algonquin canoe trip logs
Johanna Wandell
- Johanna's trip site has everything from canoeing to backpacking
Kayak

Nadine
Lake Trip Report - a good trip log with large photos.
Not only is
it wonderful to share your trip logs with friends and family but
it also helps other people who may find your trip journal on the
internet. I've often read the trip logs of others to get a better
feel of the place I am visiting. Sometimes the information contained
in someone else's story has saved us time and helped us prepare
better for the trip.
If you have
a trip log you'd like to share with us please post it in our discussion
forums.
