Ruff Rider Dog Pack
Backpacking gear for our best friends

© Outdoor Adventure Canada

I love to backpack but my four legged friend loves it more. Unfortunately sometimes Zeus gets left behind, mostly on the longer through hikes where weight and space are a big consideration. You see, my 117 pound Longhaired German Shepard requires a lot of food to keep him going plus his bowl, comb and medication add up to a considerable amount of weight and space.

Granite Gear designed the Ruff Rider dog pack so our old faithful friends can come along and carry their own food and gear. The Ruff Rider is made of 50 denier nylon and has soft fleece sides to keep rover happy.

With three sizes available for dogs from 30 pounds to dogs over 80 pounds and all are fully adjustable so you shouldn't have any difficulty finding one to fit. The large was a great fit for Zeus even with his substantial coat. When I first placed the pack on his back Zeus wasn't totally impressed but after a short time he forgot it was even there.

My dog didn't have much to say for this review but I know if I take the Ruff Rider out of the closet he'll be all over me because he knows we're going hiking.
