Eureka! El Capitan 3 Tent
A comfortable tent with an excellent venting system

© Outdoor Adventure Canada

Being stuffed in a tent on a hot summer night can be downright uncomfortable, especially with two other sweaty companions. When I heard that we would have an opportunity to test the El Capitan 3 I leaped at the chance to try it on those sultry evenings.

This particular tent has a unique design that helps with issues like warm weather and condensation. Eureka added a small door like feature at the base of the vestibule which in combination with their patented high low venting system allows you to regulate the temperature of the tent interior. I was quite impressed with these features and also noticed that we had no condensation even during a lengthy rainstorm.

Set up was fast and easy with its clip-to-pole construction. The fly rests on a small horizontal pole which ensures a dry entry/exit during inclement weather and also allows support for the larger vestibule. This tent boasts two vestibules one large enough for a pack or two and the other which is a good storage spot for boots.

Our team was very happy with the performance and construction of the El Capitan 3. We were all delighted that we could keep the tent at comfortable temperatures, even during heavy rain showers where you have to close things up. The full weight of the tent is 8 pounds 14 ounces with the pegs and poles. If you can split the weight, the El Capitan 3 is 7 pounds 14 ounces.
